This Fridays featured artist is, Susan Sogaro. We met Susan yesterday and introduced her work to us to display in our new Gift & Art Gallery!
She has a beautiful history, from being born in Africa and meeting her love her life to having to leave because of the revolution and moving to Italy. She is currently living in the Tomball, TX area with her husband on a entreprenuer visa hoping to sell enough artwork to stay in the U.S.!
Susan Sogaro was trained in Italy and worked alongside Maestro Antoio Binotto for four years. Having worked in many different medias, Susan is now combining her talents and experience to produce beautifully detailed Dioramas.
A Diorama denotes a partially three-dimensional, full-sized replica or scale model of historical events, nature scenes, cityscapes, etc. They are intended to be used for recreation, education, or personal enjoyment. The beginning of Dioramas can be traced to Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre of Paris, France in 1822, who amongst other talents was a painter of theatrical sage illusions and a master designer.
The artist uses her personal experiences for her inspiration. Having been born and raised in Ethiopia and then relocating to Europe for thirty years, Susan’s creations reflect her mastery of European and Middle Eastern architecture.
At this time, she is particularly interested in the holy city of Bethlehem and is creating meticulously designed Nativity scene Dioramas, which are researched in depth to keep all the components historically correct.
